The influence of Abraham Kuyper

Abraham Kuyper was a man with a wide outlook, he wanted a reformation to let ‘the Banner of King Jesus’ triumph in all areas of life. He played an important role in the following things:

-          Reformed schools were needed and established. In this way Kuyper wanted modernism to be banned and to learn the children the Reformed  doctrine, so that they can be pretended from modernism.

-          Establishment of  the ‘Vrije Universiteit’ In 1880 Kuyper wanted to establish the VU, which was established as a protestant-christian university. Their motto is: ‘Auxilium nostrum in nomine Domini’, which means: Our help is in the name of the Lord. That points at God’s sovereignty, which Kuyper supported. The University is the example that Kuyper wanted to establish a Reformed doctrine in all kind of different areas

-          Establishment of a distinct newspaper named 'De Standaard'. Kuyper edited ‘De Standaard’ himself and reached a lot of people by doing this. He did this to have a reformation!
